Turning Point Beauty College FAQs

What programs do you offer?

We offer Cosmetology, Aesthetics, Nail Technology, and Hairstyling, plus a 350-hour Student Instructor program and a 30-hour Eyelash Extension Specialist Certification. Each blends classroom theory with guided practice and services for live clients under licensed supervision. Ask Admissions which programs are available at Phoenix and Chandler, and which language sections are open for your preferred start date.

What careers could I explore after graduation?

After graduating from our beauty college, you could pursue diverse career paths in the beauty industry. These include roles such as hair stylist, makeup artist, nail technician, and esthetician. For those with entrepreneurial aspirations, you could become a salon owner. Additionally, there are opportunities in product sales or as a beauty influencer, leveraging your expertise and creativity in the digital space.

Is financial aid available?

We offer various financial assistance options to support your education. These include financial aid programs, scholarships, and GI Bill benefits for eligible veterans. We also provide flexible monthly payment plans and tuition deferment options for certain programs to help make your education more accessible.

How often do classes start?

Our classes start every two to four weeks, depending on the campus, so you won’t have to wait for a traditional school calendar to start. Our admissions team can share the next start dates with you, depending on your campus and program of choice. If you are trying to work around family or work commitments, remember that we offer both full-time and part-time courses. Our seats fill quickly, though, so it’s best to secure a spot in your desired start date as soon as possible.

How long does beauty school take?

The duration of cosmetology school varies depending on your schedule and state requirements. Typically, programs range from nine months to two years. Full-time students generally complete the program faster, while part-time options allow for a more flexible schedule. The exact length is determined by the number of training hours required by your state’s licensing board.

What is cosmetology?

Cosmetology is a comprehensive field encompassing various aspects of beauty and personal care. It includes the study and application of hair styling, cutting, and coloring techniques. Additionally, cosmetology covers skincare treatments, nail care procedures, and professional makeup application. This diverse discipline prepares students for a wide range of beauty-related careers.

What is aesthetics?

Aesthetics (or esthetics) focuses on the health and appearance of the skin. People who are trained in aesthetics provide professional services like facials, exfoliation, masks, basic makeup, and hair removal to improve the appearance and feel of the skin. Estheticians learn how to design treatments for different skin types and skin concerns. The goal is to deliver safe services that create the desired result while building a strong relationship with the client.

Cosmetology vs. hairstyling: what's the difference?

Cosmetology is a broader license that includes hair services as well as essentials in skincare and nails. Cosmetology training can give you a wider service menu later on in your professional career. Hairstyling focuses specifically on hair services, including cutting, coloring, finishing, and texturizing. Training time for the hairstyling program is shorter due to its exclusive focus on hair. If you want the widest range of services, cosmetology may be a good fit. If you want to focus on hair or finish your education sooner, hairstyling may be a better route. The admissions team can help you choose the path that’s right for your goals.

Do you guarantee job placement?

No, we cannot guarantee job placement. Employment opportunities will depend on your skill development, professionalism, personal drive, and local demand. What we can offer is practical career support that includes help with your resume, interview prep, and assistance with building a portfolio of your work. We also try to keep students informed about local job leads. We’ll be here to advise you beyond your last day in class, too, so let us know how we can support your journey.

What does "hands-on training" mean at Turning Point?

You’ll move from demonstrations to guided practice and then perform services for real clients with licensed instructor supervision. Alongside technical skills, you’ll practice professional communication, timing, and sanitation. These are the basic habits employers expect you to know. This approach helps classroom knowledge translate into chair-ready or treatment-room-ready skills. You’ll also learn how to document your work for a portfolio.

Can I enroll while I'm still in high school?

No. To enroll in a program, you must have a high school diploma or a GED. You must also be at least 18 years old to enroll in Turning Point Beauty College. If you have any other questions about eligibility, please talk to our admissions team.

What are the qualifications for financial aid?

For federal financial aid, the basic qualifications are as follows:

I had such an amazing experience visiting Lush Nail Salon for a field trip! From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and professional. The salon itself was spotless, beautifully organized, and had such a relaxing vibe. They took the time to explain their techniques, products, and the importance of nail care and hygiene, which made the visit both fun and educational.
